In spring 2003 the promoters Øre For Øre and Klangstabil united to become the association LJUD. LJUD promotes concerts and runs a small record label. As promoters our most important job is to add to the diversity of the music scene in Denmark. We don’t confine ourselves to specific genres. We aim to present unconventional and genre-breaking music. Therefore the outcome of LJUD can be regarded as somewhat schizophrenic: hip-hop, jazz, modern composition, free folk, electronic music, improvisation, doom, rock, brass… you name it. All is welcome as long as it’s music with a new and different approach. By keeping our presentations so open, LJUD tries to reflect on how different genres are not separated, but on the contrary, how they exceed, how they integrate in and how they feed on each other.
LJUD has organised more than 400 concerts with artists from more than 50 countries. LJUD has worked together with numerous festivals including Norberg festival, Roskilde Festival and the local SPOT Festival. LJUD has arranged concerts with artists such as: Jandek, Matmos, Acid Mothers Temple, Kid 606, Liars, Sunn 0))), Battles, Nisennenmondai, Grizzly Bear, Six Organs Of Admittance, Wolf Eyes, Keiji Haino, Jack Rose, Kim Hiorthoy, Bogdan Raczynski, Dälek, Fog, Matt Elliott, Lightning Bolt, Maher Shalal Hash Baz, The Necks, Melt Banana, No Neck Blues Band, Oval, Earth, Supersilent, Satanicpornocultshop, Spunk, Zu, Wooden Wand & The Vanishing Voice, Max Tundra etc.
LJUD Records aims at releasing high quality music, which reflects the openness which characterizes the concerts we present. We release both unknown and known artists. So far we have released four vinyls with Jason Forrest, DAT Politics, Puzzleweasel and Per hoier. Have a look and listen in the label section!
LJUD is financially supported by the Municipal Department of Culture in Århus and the Danish Arts Council.
